ROBOTA
2013

HD video, 17 minutes.

The video is a mockumentary and was produced before and during a recidency at CSW Łaźnia in Gdansk, Poland, in 2013. In broken Polish I tell the story of one of Norway’s 150 000 Polish workers, Mr. Piotr Rudnicki (28) – ”Norway’s northernmost Pole”. Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean at 79 degrees north, approximately midway between Scandinavia and the North Pole. In Svalbard, there are about 2300 people, and roughly 3000 polar bears. Employed as a polar bear watchman at the local art gallery, and armed with binoculars and a rifle, Piotr, – in his own words, – “protects the lives of people who come to see contemporary art.”
